Final

My final decision to not buy the gopstopers was based on the fact that I was in the mood for something soft and chewy and the gobstopers are hard, small jaw breakers. It wasn't so much that the gobstopers didn't do it for me, but rather I had just eaten a big steak and was in the mood for a soft treat to end the night.

I'm sitting in fifth period Calculus not wanting to be in class. At this point of my day it is post lunch and I am starting to become drowsy and have a hard time paying attention in class. My head feels like a heavy log I can't help from falling on my desk. The teachers keeps looking over at me making me feel guilty for being so sleepy. I can't help it, I had woken up at 5:30 that morning to get to school for a 6:30 student government meeting and now my day was catching up with me. I felt like the song "I'm Just A Kid" by Simple Plan should be playing in the background. I felt like my whole day was a nightmare and there was nothing that could fix it. I asked the teacher for a pass to go to the bathroom. On my back to class from the bathroom, the lit up vending machine caught my attention. I walked up to the vending machine and took a glance of what it had to offer. None of the chips, pretzels or crackers appealed to me because it was too similar to what I had packed in my lunch earlier in the day. However, the candy section of the vending machine grabbed my attention. The red cherry flavored air-head especially caught my attention. The colorful package advertising the chewy, cherry flavored stick candy appealed to my taste buds right away. Knowing I didn't have much time before I needed to hurry back to class, I quickly put my dollar into the vending machine, bought the air head and shoved them in my sweatshirt pocket. I felt like a criminal trying to get away with robbing a bank since I had just asked my teacher to go to the restroom not go to the vending machine.
As I walked back to class it was hard to resist opening the air head. I walked back to my seat and did a pretend cough to cover the sound of me opening the wrapper of the airhead. My calculus teacher was going on and on about how to find the derivatives of trigonometric functions. My attention span was long lost. I reached into my pocket and started to rip little pieces of the airhead. Piece by piece I would put them into my mouth. Each piece I put in was so small but I savored it for a long time before I would finally swallow it. The more my saliva drenched each piece, the more flexible and tasteful each piece became. The cherry flavor exploded in my mouth with each piece that I sucked on. I had many classmates around me but I did not share with anyone because I did not want the teacher to yell at me for going to the vending machine and eating in class. While eating this candy I felt like my song should change from mellow and depressing to upbeat music that made me want to dance. The candy transformed my mood and attitude. This was definitely a wise candy pick for me.
After eating my last piece of the airhead I was a little bit disappointed that I was at the end of my package. However, I realized that I only had two more minutes left in calculus. By simply buying the airehead and savoring each piece, I was able to make my least favorite class go by super-fast. My mom always says a little bit of sugar will sweeten anyone up.  After eating the airhead my mood definitely supported her theory. I didn’t like being in school but my mood had turned from negative and pessimistic to positive and optimistic about the day. I was able to stay awake a lot easier in my next two classes after eating the candy. The candy was a small little treat, but it made a huge difference in my day. I went from being tired and not wanting to be in school to awake and participating in my classes. I even noticed that I had a little more energy to go to lacrosse practice after school. Before my trip to the vending machine I felt like my grandma watching TV, who can barely watch five minutes of a show before falling asleep. After I ate the candy I felt like a little kid who had just drank my first caffeinated drink.

Step 2

First off I would like to talk a little about myself so that you can get to know me. I am seventeen years old and a senior anxiously waiting to graduate from high school. I am one of four children and I play varsity lacrosse on my high school team. One of my favorite things to do is go to movies or watch movies with friends where we often have the guilty pleasure of eating goodies. Despite getting older, I still have a sweet tooth for candy any time I tag along with my mom to go grocery shopping or go in the gas station to pay for gas. For something to catch my eye the box or bag must be visually appealing to me. It must have bright pretty colors relating to flavors that I like. The graphics on the boxes or bags must look appealing, I will not eat something that looks bad even if it is supposedly the most amazing treat ever. I hate to say it but I do judge my food by its cover. The gobstopers and nerds both had very bright colored boxed as well as little descriptions making me want to eat the candy right then and there. The gobstopers appealed to me when the box said the color and flavor changes as it melts in your mouth.

I chose air heads because they are one my favorite candies and it was cherry flavored and that is my absolute favorite flavor despite the fact I don’t like actual cherries.
I would describe it as a five inch long one and half-inch wide piece of bendy, sticky, compact joy.
The perfect occasion for eating airheads is a swim meet.
When I think of air heads it reminds me of my childhood years that I spend on swim team. I would always look forward to the moments in the bullpen after my events because my mom would only let me get candy from the concessions (usually air heads) after I swam.
Eating this candy makes me feel like a little kid reliving my swim team days.
The kind of people who eat this brand the most are kids and any spectators at sporting events with concession stands nearby.
The music that goes along with this brand is up beat, happy, fast paced, silly.

I chose a push pop because it was visually appealing and had an easy concept of being able to eat it without making a mess or getting my hands sticky.
I would describe push pop candy as a magic compact sucker that appears when you take the top off but goes back down into its container when you put the lid on. A hygienic way to put your lollipop down when you are not finished with it.
The perfect occasion for eating a push pop is a long movie because it can be savored throughout the movie as well as put away at times without it getting dirty or stuck to other things.
When I think of push pops it reminds me of a light savor physique combined with a lollipop.
Eating this candy makes me feel like I am opening a jack-in-the box every time I take the lid off.
The kind of people who eat this brand the most are kids who would prefer a sucker over chocolate but have parents who want them to keep it clean.
The music that goes along with eating this brand would be the jack in the box music.

I chose the sour lifesaver gummies because I like the soft texture with a sour twist to them.
I would describe sour lifesaver gummies as a spherical shape with a hole in the middle but very bendable.
The perfect occasion for eating sour lifesaver gummies is a summer picnic because they do not melt like chocolate would.
When I think of sour lifesaver gummies it reminds me of my job because I am a lifeguard at a pool where I am trained to keep people safe.
Eating this candy makes me feel calm, relaxed and happy because their bendable shape reminds me to be flexible with life.
The kind of people who eat this brand the most are laid back people who like a little pizzazz to their life.
The music that goes along with eating this brand would be soft, tropical, beach music that you would hear at a oceanic restaurant.

I chose a baby bottle pop because it combined my love for a lollipop with a sour powder all into one candy.
I would describe a baby bottle pop as a sweet lollipop in the shape of a baby bottle that can be unscrewed and dipped into a sour powder to mix two flavors together.
The perfect occasion for eating baby bottle pops is a baseball game where the innings can stretch out and you need something to keep your attention.
When I think of baby bottle pops it reminds me of a baby drinking out of a bottle with a surprised look on their face when they drink something they didn’t expect.
Eating this candy makes me feel like a circus because the two tastes of sour and sweet combined are exciting like a trick in the circus.
The kind of people who eat this brand the most are inconsistent people who cannot make a decision on what type of candy they are craving.
The music that goes along with eating this brand is wild, loud and changing tempo.

I want to eat the cherry air head the most right now because it brings back so many positive memories of my childhood.
The candy that would be left last in the box would be the orange airhead because I dislike orange flavored items the most.

My initial reaction to the lifesaver gummies is one of eager anticipation to eat them due to the fact that I have not eaten these in a very long time.
My initial reaction to the sourpatch kids was how ironic because that is the candy that I chose to purchase with my five dollars in step one.
I prefer Sourpatch kids because I have routinely bought this candy since a child and I love the flavors that they contain.
I like the soft shape of the lifesaver gummies and how flexible they are, however I dislike some of the funky flavors that they have.
I like the flavors of the sourpatch kids but dislike the way it makes your tongue feel fuzzy after you eat too many.
I routinely do not eat the lifesaver gummies. I usually eat sourpatch kids when I am in my room doing homework or at a movie when I want a break and something new and exciting.

Candy

As I received my package in the mail I was watching TV where I saw a commercial for sourpatch kids. I immediately knew that was what I wanted to buy. As I was driving to the store my mouth started to water just thinking about the sour taste of the candy I had pre-selected in my mind. Once I arrived at the store I became conflicted because I saw two other types of candy that I happen to love as well, Nerds and Gopstoppers. My pre-decision was now changing. I was thinking about the sugary crystals of the nerds melting on my tongue and the color and flavor changing spheres of sweetness with the gobstoppers. Despite my conflicting decision, I decided to go with the sour but then sweet deliciousness of the sourpatch kids. Even though I wanted to eat them all on my way home I decided to wait until I was done driving to eat them at my house. Before I could even eat my first one, my mouth started to water. As I opened the candy I separated them by their colors: orange, yellow, green and red. I ate the sourpatch in the order of my least favorite color to my favorite color, orange then green then yellow then red. I always eat any of my food like this because I like to save the best for last. When I was eating my candy I shared a couple with my sister but that was it. The candy was sour when I first put them in my mouth but after around thirty seconds my saliva made the sugary crystals melt and made them have a sweet taste to them. This was a perfect combination for me and I was not able to save any to eat for the next day. I was a little upset when I got to the end of eating all my candy because I still wanted more. Despite my wanting more, the sour taste of the candy had left my taste buds raw but still wanting more.
